Reflexology is a complementary therapy, which means it is intended to be used alongside normal medical care and therapies.
The nerves in the feet (most common), hands and ears will be stimulated, and this has the effect of improving other areas of the body or indeed overall health.
There are no theories to explain reflexology, but nevertheless a growing number of people are turning to this alternative therapy and are experiencing noticeable beneficial effects. All practitioners believe that areas on the foot correspond to other areas of the body, hence when the foot is stimulated the effect is felt elsewhere and enhances the natural healing process.
Some blockages in the body are felt as ‘grit’ or ’lumps’ in the foot. A gentle relaxing massage is applied to these areas removing these blockages in the energy flow in the body.
